2012 Mets Prospect Report: Week 11 (6/14 - 6/20)

Top Pitching Prospect of the Week

Matt Harvey, SP (AAA) - 13.0 IP, 1-1, 2.77 ERA, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 17 K

Harvey (2010, 1st round, 7th overall) put together consecutive quality starts this week and appears to be making major strides at AAA. These last 2 outings he's limited the free passes and missed a ton of bats. Fortunately, the Mets' rotation is healthy and thriving at the moment, so the calls for Harvey have quieted down. That's good because the Mets' most advanced top pitching prospect still has work to do before being ready to make his big league debut. And there's no rush. After all, Harvey's still the 10th youngest pitcher to spend time in the International League this year.

Honorable Mention:

Michael Fulmer, SP (A) - 7.1 IP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Cory Mazzoni, SP (AA) - 7.0 IP, 1-0, 1.29 ERA, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Luis Mateo, SP (A-) - 5.2 IP, 1-0, 1.59 ERA, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K
Armando Rodriguez, RP (AA) - 5.2 IP, 0-0, 1 SV, 3.18 ERA, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K

Top Hitting Prospect of the Week

Travis Taijeron, CF (A) - 19 PA, .357/.526/.643, 4 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB, 4 K

Taijeron (2011, 18th round) just keeps quietly having a fantastic season in A ball, putting together a .291/.401/.548 line through the season's first half. In addition to the numbers he put up in the 4 games the Sand Gnats played this week, Taijeron also went 0-2 with a whiff in the SAL All-Star game and placed fourth in the league's Home Run Derby. At 23, he was old for the league, so it's good that he's earned a promotion to Advanced A St. Lucie. If Taijeron can continue scorching the baseball in the Florida State League, he'll likely begin 2013 in AA, at which point we'll know a lot more about whether he's a future Major Leaguer or not.

Honorable Mention:

Dustin Lawley, OF (A) - 21 PA, .316/.381/.684, 5 R, 1 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K
Jhoan Urena, 3B (R) - 27 PA, .385/.407/.500, 4 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 3 SB
Aderlin Rodriguez, 3B (A) - 19 PA, .294/.333/.529, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 4 K
Matt Den Dekker, CF (AAA) - 30 PA, .222/.267/.593, 4 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 SB

Top Non-Prospect of the Week

Manny Acosta, RP (AAA) - 5.2 IP, 0-0, 1 SV, 1.59 ERA, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
