Top Pitching Prospect of the Week
Domingo Tapia, SP (A) - 7.1 IP, 1-0, 1.23 ERA, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
There were several good pitching performances this week from Mets prospects, but the 20-year-old flamethrower who lasted into the 8th inning gets the nod. Through 7 innings of his lone start last week, Tapia (2009 international) held opposing Delmarva hitters to 4 singles and no walks. The strikeouts weren't really there this start but he did induce 12 groundouts, two of which were double plays. The lone run Tapia surrendered was a baserunner he handed off to the pen with one out in the 8th. Apart from his bizarre 1.1 inning, 8-run clunker 2 weeks ago, Tapia has been one of the brightest young prospects in the system in 2012. And this week was just another example of that.
Honorable Mention:
Matt Harvey, SP (AAA) - 6.0 IP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
Michael Fulmer, SP (A) - 5.0 IP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Jacob deGrom, SP (A) - 6.2 IP, 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
Adrian Rosario, RP (A+) - 2.2 IP, 0-0, 3 SV, 0.00 ERA, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Top Hitting Prospect of the Week
Travis Taijeron, OF (A) - 24 PA, .524/.583/.762, 7 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 5 RBI, 3 BB, 3 K
Taijeron (2011 18th round) was an easy choice this week. In fact, if not for Cory Vaughn's obscene week last week, he'd be the incumbent in this spot as well. It's just hard to be any hotter than Taijeron is right now. Overall, his 7 HRs are good for 2nd in the South Atlantic League and his 1.038 OPS ranks fourth. At 23, he's old for low A-ball, and it's clear he's got nothing left to prove at that level. But promotions don't take place in a vacuum, so all that's left for Taijeron to do is keep raking and wait for an opportunity to move up to St. Lucie.

Wilmer Flores, 3B (A+) - 23 PA, .333/.391/.524, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
Robbie Shields, 2B (A+) - 29 PA, .292/.414/.458, 5 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 5 BB, 9 K, 2 SB
Matt Den Dekker, CF (AA) - 24 PA, .286/.333/.476, 2 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 SB
Juan Lagares, RF (AA) - 19 PA, .333/.368/.444, 2 R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 SB
