Reyes Compensation Tracker 3000

Last updated on 4/5/2012

UPDATE: It's Opening Day. I'm gonna go ahead and call it a career for Derrek Lee. This locks the Mets into the #35 and #71 picks as their compensation for Jose Reyes.

The Mets will get 2 compensation picks in the 2012 draft for Jose Reyes. One of those picks will come directly from the Marlins. The other compensatory selection will be a pick in the sandwich round between rounds 1 and 2.

Be sure to check out the two part piece on 40-man roster math that I put together for Mets360.com.

Part 1 breaks down the current roster and considers what I suggest it might look like after the customary fall subtractions (departing free agents, non-tenders, DFAs, releases).

Part 2 looks ahead to the Rule 5 draft and considers who might be protected.
