Players still in big league camp

Updated April 4, 2012

With the Opening Day roster now established, here's a breakdown of who made the team.

Active players on the 40-Man Roster (23):

The following players were already on the 40-man roster. Players who can be optioned to the minor leagues are denoted by italics. For a full breakdown of the options status of players on the Mets' 40-man roster, check out the Options tab. Players starting the season on the DL are denoted by red text.

Non-Roster Invitees, or NRIs (2):

All NRIs can be reassigned to a minor league affiliate without being optioned or having to pass through waivers (provided they don't have opt out clauses in their contracts). If Miguel Batista had not been told he would be called up or released by March 30th, the Mets would have owed him a $100,000 retention bonus, and Batista would have had the right to declare himself a free agent if not in the Major Leagues by June 1. As it is, Batista and Mike Baxter have been added to the Active Roster and will be breaking camp with the Mets on Opening Day.
